BTW, Hastert received an "F" grade from the Iraq-Afghanistan Veterans of America for his voting record on issues pertaining to the military.

One of the options in the poll spoke to this question precisely. From the article:
"...just 9 percent favor 'only reduc(ing) U.S.-led forces as the security situation improves in Iraq.'"
I doubt that anybody who chose the one year or less category thinks that the situation will change significantly during that time. If they do, they are not listening to our government experts or their own. It seems to me that the 71% just want us out as quickly as is logistically possible.
As to the people who chose the option of two years, suppose you could assume that most of them think the situation might be secure by then. I guess that means it's possible that 29% of the respondents want us to stay until it is "safe."
The thing is that BushCo just wants to keep doing basically the same thing there (Wasn't that what Cheney just said on one of the Sunday morning shows?) and there are Democrat's as well as some more moderate Republicans with seemingly viable alternatives.
Alternatives like dividing the country into 3 states with a central commission that will divide the oil revenues between the 3.
There are others but that's the one that stood out for me.
The situation is getting worse according to a colonel they interviewed on the ground there this morning. Something needs to change as what's being done right now isn't working.

But every time John Kerry or Al Gore gets up there and spews their garbage about Bush, it only serves to strengthen them...not us. All the crap those two say about our President is broadcast over in Iraq and all it does is encourage them to keep killing our young men...because they know that is the one thing that will drive a wedge between us all.

You do realize that the current administration has manipulated and controlled the news media more so than any that has preceded it, right?
